Hard Drive by Ambrielle Kirk
* I received a copy of this book from Breathless Press in exchange for an honest review*

When Dana seeks out Carlos’s computer expertise, he never expected the daring beauty would rev up his libido.

Content with his computer business, Carlos is happy with his choices in life…until a confident Nubian beauty walks into his store. Too bashful and insecure to unleash the romantic man inside, he is instantly attracted to Dana as she unknowingly changes his preconceived notions about gorgeous women who need every male at their beck and call.

But the truth comes out: Dana may have another agenda, and Carlos is ready to hide behind his glasses and computers. But will he combat his trust before this beauty walks out on him…for good?

Carlos is a typical computer “nerd”.  He is more comfortable behind the computer than talking to people, especially the women.  After graduating college, he opened his own computer store.  He spends hours there but puts very little effort into his social life.  He doesn’t know how to react when a beautiful woman starts flirting with him.

Dana ends ups at Carlos’ computer store when her laptop contracts a virus.  She can’t believe her luck that not only is the computer guy smart, he is sexy too.  She runs a matchmaking service on the side and can’t believe that she may have found her own mate in Carlos.

Carlos is quiet, shy and lacks self confidence.   He hides behind his computers to avoid relationships.  He is stunned that Dana is flirting with him.  He decides for once in his life he is going to take a chance and go for it.

This may be a short story but there is no shortage of sexiness.  Carlos and Dana are very hot together, especially the scene at the end.  I do love good make up sex.

Overall I give Hard Drive 3 Flaming Hearts.

Private Property #1 by Leah Braemel
* I received this book free from the author*

There’s nothing casual about this caper…

Jodi Tyler has loved and lost too many times to believe in happily ever after. That’s what makes her no-strings affair with her boss so perfect—his power in bed matches his respect for her independence. Still, when he surprises her with a ménage for her birthday, her secret thrill wars with a nagging thought: Why would he so casually share her with another man?

Even though Mark Rodriguez holds Jodi at arm’s length from his heart, her self-confidence is a turn-on he can’t resist. Inviting old college buddy and future business partner Sam into their bed for one night was supposed to set free her wildest fantasy. Instead he finds the tables turned, forced to watch while Sam brings her to the height of ecstasy.

Now, Mark’s not so sure he wants to share his treasure…

Warning: This book contains a woman fulfilling her sexual fantasies—including two men who are happy to tie her up, and be tied up, while using graphic language and floggers.

Jodi is not happy about spending her birthday on a stake out/break in for a future client.  Her boyfriend Mark is the owner of the security agency they work for and he insists that she is the only one that can pull this job off.  Little does she know that she will find more than she bargained for once she gets into the house?

Mark has been planning Jodi’s birthday surprise for the past month.  He has enlisted the help of Sam to give her the experience of a lifetime and to fulfill her fantasy list.  When the time comes to put the plan in action, he is shocked by his own reaction to Sam pleasuring Jodi.

Jodi never expected to have her wildest fantasies played out before her eyes with two smoking hot guys.  She wants to experience everything they are offering but at the same time she doesn’t want to alienate Mark.  She is excited about the opportunity before her but apprehensive at the same time.

She is in love with Mark but because of her bad history with guys she thinks Mark is getting ready to break up with her.  He blew her off on her birthday and scheduled her to work, why else would he do this unless he was tired of her.

Sam is glad to join in on their fun but one look at Mark with Jodi and he knows he’s a third wheel.  He cares about his friend and is determined to make his friend admit what is in his heart, even if he hates him when he is done.  Jodi is beautiful and responsive to his every touch and he just wants Mark to realize the treasure he has.

Mark isn’t into long term relationships until Jodi.  She is smart and beautiful and he doesn’t want to share her, even if it’s to fulfill her fantasies.  He’s angry at Sam because he has to sit and watch their play without participating.  He is also extremely turned on watching Sam dominate her but he has an overwhelming urge to mark her as his.

This story was hot, sexy and a lot of fun.  Mark was super sweet to arrange for Jodi’s fantasies to be played out, even if he wasn’t crazy about another man touching her.  The dominate scene with Sam was powerful but I think the scene afterward with just the two of them was even more powerful.

The characters were kept to a minimum which worked for this story.  There was also enough back story for the reader to understand what was going on, without over powering them with too much information.  It was also fun learning a little about the security business.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to pick up the 2nd and 3rd book in this series.  I want to learn more about Sam.  I give Private Property 4 Flaming Hearts.

Hook, Wine & Tinker by Mardi Ballou
*I purchased a copy of this book for my personal library*

Gwyn Verde has been dating Peter Payne for awhile and she is always left wanting.  He doesn’t do romance and would rather hang out with his buddies watching sports.  Gwyn is at the end of her rope, she just can’t get through to him and going to a costume party with him is the last thing she wants to do.

Dominic is tired of the women, he wants to find the “one” and settle down.  He wants someone that doesn’t just want his money, they want him too.  He has a feeling that his costume party will bring her to him.  Little did he know that Tinkerbell would fall right into Captain Hook’s trap?

Gwyn is a strong female, able to take care of herself but she still wants romance from her man.  She doesn’t trust her relationship with Peter so she holds back her dreams and fantasies, until she meets Dominic.  Throughout the book Gwen grows more confident in her sexuality and can’t think of a better person than Dominic to share her experiences with.

Dominic is a sexy, smart businessman but he hasn’t always been.  He has worked hard to get where he is and now he wants someone to share it with him.  Fantasies are his specialty and now he is getting to share his knowledge and skills and help Gwyn experience her own fantasies.  He can’t believe how receptive she is to the dominance play, making his own dreams come true.

Overall I enjoyed this story.  I didn’t like Peter’s character but I don’t really think you were supposed to.  If I was Dominic and Gwyn, I’d be worried about what he will try next because I don’t trust him to just go away.  Gwyn and Dominic are both fun characters that fit well with one another.  At first you have to wonder why a very rich man would fall for a “normal” person but when you find out his story, it all makes sense.

The role play with costumes and the dominance scenes were very HOT.  I enjoyed them very much.  I think I liked the Al Capone scenes the best.  What they did with pearls makes me want to get my own set and try them out, very kinky.

Overall I enjoyed the book and can’t wait to read the second story in the series.  I give Hook, Wine & Tinker 3½ Flaming Hearts.

A Vision of Lucy by Margaret Brownley
*I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Trouble follows Lucy wherever she goes. So does a vision of second chances . . . and love.

Lucy Fairbanks dreams of working as a photographer at the Rocky Creek newspaper. Her deepest hope is that her father will see her as an artist, the way he thought of her deceased mother, whose paintings still hang on their walls.

But disaster follows Lucy on every photo assignment: a mess of petticoats and ribbons, an accidental shooting, even a fire.

When Lucy meets David Wolf-a rugged, reclusive man who lives on the outskirts of town-she thinks she can catch the attention of the town with his photograph. She doesn’t count on her feelings stirring whenever she’s near him.

Two things happen next that forever change the course of Lucy’s life. But will these events draw her closer to God or push her further away? And how will David accept this new vision of Lucy?

A Vision of Lucy was the first book I’ve read in Christian Fiction.  I received a review request from the publisher and quickly accepted the book. It first caught my eye because Lucy wants to be a photographer and it takes place in the 1800’s.

Lucy is a young woman that has been raising her father and brother since her mother died.  She has aspirations to be a photographer but no one will take her seriously.  She is convinced that if she can get that one great shot, the local newspaper will hire her to work there.  She never dreamed that her passion would almost cost a man his life.

David Wolf is a man on a mission.  He is angry with the world because he doesn’t fit in with the white man or the Indians.  He has been shunned all his life due to his Indian blood.  When he was younger he was almost killed by four teenage boys out causing trouble.  He has never forgiven them and wants them to suffer as he has all these years.

I love Lucy’s character.  She is continually getting into trouble and it seems like David is always there to rescue her.  She reminds me of Janet Evanovich’s main character, Stephanie Plum.  It seems like anything that can go wrong for Lucy does, even when she is trying to help someone.  She has a good heart and believes that people are inherently good but she is also a little naive about the world around her since she has never left her small town.

David is a complex character that is jaded and feels like everyone holds his Indian blood against him.  He was put in a boat and left to die when he was a little boy, an incident that has fueled his hatred all these years.  He just wants people to see him for who he is, a smart and talented man, but he has to start seeing himself differently before anyone else will.

I really like David and Lucy together. He is truly the yin to her yang and they complement each other well.  Lucy will be able to help him overcome his anger and resentment while learning forgiveness.  At the same time, David is there to show her the ways of the world.  He encourages her to continue with her photography.  He loves her just the way she is and she doesn’t care about his mixed blood.

The town is a typical town in the old west and full of interesting characters, including the typical nosy neighbors and budding politician.  The secondary characters are so much fun and add that additional level of depth to the story.  The tidbits at the beginning of each chapter are also fun to read.  I enjoyed learning about how old school photography was processed; it makes me appreciate my digital camera that much more.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book because I really wasn’t sure what to expect from a Christian fiction book.  The author’s message of love and forgiveness is intricately woven into the story without the reader felling like they are attending a worship service.

Overall I really enjoyed A Vision of Lucy and give it 4 Flaming Hearts.

Kisri by Moira Rogers
* I received this ARC free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

His duty…her pleasure.

…and the Beast, Book 2

After three years at war, Ennon bears the burden of seeing the High Lord’s vast armies home. Keeping thousands of fiercely independent lions in line isn’t easy. When his soldiers discover a beautiful, royal female hidden beneath an illusion spell, the lure of her inheritance threatens the order of his camp.

The men of her family protected Kisri, until the war stole them away. Tired of defending herself from greedy suitors, she’s in search of her only remaining male relative. Instead she finds Ennon, her cousin’s most dangerous warrior. Perhaps the only man in the kingdom who has no interest in claiming her birthright. Which makes him unique and tempting.

Delivering Kisri to his High Lord’s side—while keeping his distance—is Ennon’s one and only duty. Yet Kisri’s untutored advances crack his formidable resistance. And she proves to be a dangerously adept student. Especially when their passion wakes a magic beyond their control…

Warning: This story contains a dangerous shapeshifter warlord, a lioness with a sword, innocent passion, sexual awakenings and a happily-ever-after worthy of any fairy tale.

Kisri has been allowed to do what she wanted, within limits, growing up.  Her cousin Mal watched out for her while she learned to defend herself.  Now that all the men in her family have gone off to war, she has no one to protect her from the lions that want to mate her because she is royalty.  Her solution, hide out in her cousin’s war camps disguised as a fellow soldier.

Ennon is Mal’s right hand and he is responsible for breaking down the war camps, he never expected to find Kisri among his camp.  He is charged with bringing her to Mal safely and untouched, he didn’t know how hard the second task was going to be.

I loved Kisri’s character.  She is a free spirit that just wants to live her life without having to fight off men that are only interested in her title.  She wants to be able to choose her own mate and I can’t blame her.  She is strong and independent and wants a mate that accepts her for who she is and doesn’t want to change her.

Ennon is a stand up guy that is super-sexy.  He wants to get her to Mal untouched but he can’t turn down her offer for him to teach her the ways of men and women.  He never meant to mate her, it just happened.  He’s not sorry about it but he does act cowardly by pushing her away and not letting her make her own decisions.

I loved that the story was primarily about the two of them and the journey they are undertaking.  The scenes were fun but also very sexy, especially their lion play.  Ennon is a dominate lion that can to accept Kisri as she is and he doesn’t need her money or family name.  They both thought they could walk away from their encounter but neither expected to lose their heart in the process.

Mal is a true leader who loves his cousin and wants her to be happy.  He senses the mating bond right away, he is mad that Ennon broke his trust but he doesn’t want them to suffer either.  He forces Ennon’s hand and encourages him to tell Kisri she has been mated, to let her decide if she wants to accept the mating bond.

Overall I really liked Kisri and give it 4 Flaming Hearts.
